  • This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma. A College degree in a related field and/or experience in the trucking industry would be beneficial.

    • Lifting intermittently of various items. Typically, material-handling devices would be provided for weights exceeding 35 pounds.
    • Good manual dexterity to operate computer equipment.
    • Orally communicating over telephone equipment when interacting with customers, suppliers, Arconic management, leased employees, Arconic employees and other HTS personnel.
    • Position is an exempt salaried position and therefore could work more than eight hours daily and more than five days weekly to complete work assignments.
    • Sitting in chairs (swivel, padded, and adjustable) for long periods while performing his/ her duties.
    • Squatting or crouching when retrieving stored items from lower shelves and file cabinets, making equipment adjustments, performing inspections of required files, etc.
    • Standing intermittently while performing his/her duties to include talking on the telephone, inspecting freight operations and observing dispatch operations. Standing will vary from periodically to extensively depending on the daily sequence of events.
    • Driving of a motor vehicle for travel purposes.
    • Traveling by air transportation.
    • Visual monitoring of computer screens.
    • Visual inspection and examination of equipment or property damage incurred by the truck line in operation of their business.
    • Visual requirements for this position are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Walking within the total floor space of the plant to perform liaison and other work-related tasks.

During periods of travel, duties could be performed in conference centers, restaurants, places of public accommodation, modes of travel, etc.

    This position is responsible for the coordination of all Howmet Transport Services, Inc. (HTSI) Department of Transportation (DOT) safety and employee health and safety (EHS). The position must ensure that Howmet Transport Services, Inc. and Howmet Logistics Services (HLS) comply with DOT and OSHA regulations. This position coordinates EHS goals and directives through the EHS Managers at various Howmet Aerospace (HA) locations.

    Job responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Consistently demonstrates Howmet Aerospace Values
    • Complies with all HA policies/procedures.
    • Complies with and enforces all EHS rules required for the HLS facility as well as for all HTSI drivers across the entire network.
    • Oversees DOT safety regarding equipment, on the road safety and with the entire contract driver pool
    • Provides DOT safety and regulatory guidance to HTSI and HLS personnel and leased personnel
    • Ensures driver files meet and remain current with DOT requirements
    • Files and maintains records for all DOT, Hazardous Material certifications, CBSA, Canadian Authority, Over Weight Permits, Scale permits, SCAC renewal, National Motor Freight Association annual subscription and other legal and professional associations.
    • Conducts new hire orientation, CMV driver basics, coordinates overall continuing training and education to keep all drivers abreast of the latest policies, procedures and DOT rulings.
    • Prepares and submits various reports as may be requested by HA management
    • Conducts annual Defensive Driver Course - Professional Truck Driver for leased drivers. Tracks and ensures compliance with Howmet employee Defensive Driver Course as required
    • Remains current with DOT and OSHA regulations as they affect our operations
    • Maintains drug and alcohol records as required by DOT
    • Administers driver agency disciplinary actions/problems
    • Maintains driver bonus programs
    • Audits driver trips for log falsification
    • Ensures location safety programs are up to date
    • Mobile Equipment SPA for HLS/HTSI/HLC
    • Performs other work related duties as assigned
    • Must be able to function as a member of a team, assist team members when needed and be able to work under general supervision
    • Performs routine special projects, as directed.
    • Participates in Continuous Improvement programs
    • Assists, when required, with other departmental/backup duties
